The SAT II (officially known as the SAT II Subject Tests) tests the student in specific subjects. There are five categories of SAT II tests: literature, history, science, mathematics and foreign languages. Many competitive colleges ask its applicants to submit up to three SAT II scores.

Almost all competitive colleges in the U.S. require its applicants to submit an SAT score in addition to scores for a variety of SAT II Subject Tests.

The AP exam is taken every May by students that have completed the corresponding AP course in school. There are thirty-eight tests, and some of the most commonly taken subjects include English, History (World, European, and U.S.), Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, and Spanish.

AP courses look great on your high school transcript, as well as get ahead in college since many schools exempt students from General Education classes if they score a 4 or 5.
